KoKi KINOSAAL

Valeria is the only remaining resident of a small Romanian village, abandoned due to massive mudslides from the nearby copper mine that have flooded the area, raising the levels of the polluted local lake and drowning everything in their path. With resilience, stoicism, and courage, the elderly woman, accompanied by her few animals, refuses to leave her land, which now resembles a dystopian thriller. This unsettling socio-ecological documentary centers on its protagonist, who imparts lessons on life, dignity, and perseverance as she stands firm in the face of utter destruction. The landscape shots are breathtaking, capturing scenes that balance between eerie beauty and total devastation.
