Become a part of the team

Organising a film festival is a lot of work! Therefore we are happy about every new and motivated face at our coordination meetings.

From selecting films for the festival to organising events in schools and daycare facilities to designing our flyers and posters, you can get involved in many different areas. We are now organised per subgroup and you are welcome to join one (or two) of them.

Here is a bit of information on the specific tasks of our subgroups:

  • You like short films. Our short films tend to be extremely varied in terms of genre (documentary, fiction, animated films, experimental, etc). This variety is something you’d like
  • You could imagine finding a jury and giving them all the relevant information for them to be able to do their job as a jury

  • You like short, often animated films that are appropriate for a young audience
  • You want to curate programs for kids and develop moderation plans for a young audience together in a team
  • You are interested in moderating our kids programme during our festival or in a visit of a school or a KiTa during the year

  • You like documentary films and reportage on environmental, sustainability and social justice topics
  • You like constructing a festival programme with our team
  • You like organising podium discussions and finding initiatives that could lead interesting discussions on the topics of a specific movie at our festival

  • You would like to think about and develop a special topic, that becomes a focus at next year’s festival (at the beginning of the year)
  • You like watching and reviewing documentary films and reportage
  • You like finding initiatives as guests for podium discussions after a movie or for a workshop related to the special topic
  • You want to help finding a jury of experts and filmmakers that decides the yearly winner of the special topic prize

  • You are interested in maintaining and adding texts to our website
  • You like helping with creating content for our Instagram and LinkedIn channels
  • You are interested in writing, translating or proof-reading texts for our website, newsletter and print media (such as summaries of movies, news posts and others)
  • You are interested in designing flyers, posters and other visuals for our festival
  • Or maybe you even see other areas, where we can improve our communication strategy and want to develop new plans with us

  • You would like to support us in getting funding for our festival and want to learn the ropes of fundraising for a non-profit association
  • You like strategic thinking and – crucially – are not afraid of trying several times to get something financed
  • You know or are not scared of learning the difference between subsidies, sponsoring, donations, etc
  • You can read a budget or are willing to learn
  • You can write texts for proposals in German (not necessarily native level) or read a proposal written in German and give feedback

Besides those subgroups, we also have some temporary tasks that need a lot of people. If you are interested by one of those without being in the general group, your help is very much appreciated. We’ll get in touch with you to let you know when the meetings to introduce people to these task are taking place:

  • Reviewing film: this involves watching at least 10 films in between beginning of May and Mid-june, as well as as giving a note and your comment on the film. You can take part in the program meetings taking place at the end of the process if you want (meetings where films are selected) but that’s not mandatory
  • Helping to distribute flyers and posters in October throughout Freiburg
  • Being a volunteer during the week of the festival (11th to 15th of November 2026): the festival could not take place without the help of volunteers on that week. Tasks during the festival include helping with entrance tickets, welcoming guests, logistics, and others. Of course you can also watch the movie, that runs during your shift

Become a sponsor

As a non-profit association, we depend on sponsors to make our yearly festival possible. With our focus of sustainability, we want to give our audience valuable input on what a more sustainable and socially just world can look like. Through discussions with filmmakers and experts after our screenings, the films can then be connected to local initiatives and projects in the area.

As a sponsor, you get benefits that range from visibility at the festival and on our posters to a private screening of one of our movies. You can find this year’s sponsoring agreement here.

Become a partner

Our numerous partners help us to organise the festival according to our vision. As a small film festival, our numerous partners support us with equipment, promotional material and various other services that make the festival possible in the first place. If you like what we do and want to support us, in a way other than purely financially, feel free to contact us.
As a partner you also get benefits like visibility and promotion during the festival as well as on our posters around Freiburg.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our sponsors, partners & all of the volunteers that support us every year – without you, we wouldn’t be able to put this festival together.
