Organising a film festival is a lot of work! Therefore we are happy about new and motivated faces at our coordination meetings.
From selecting films for the festival to organising events in schools and daycare facilities to designing our flyers and posters, you can get involved in many different areas. We are now organised per subgroup and you are welcome to join one (or two) of them.
Here are a few information on what is specific about the subgroups:
- You like short films. Our short films tend to be extremely varied in terms of genre (documentary, fiction, animated films, experimental, etc). This variety is something you’d like
- You could imagine finding a jury and giving them all the relevant information for them to be able to do their job as a jury
- You want to curate programs for kids
- You want to develop moderation plans that are relevant to the age group targeted by a screening
- You are interested in sometimes going to kindergarten and schools for screenings taking place there (at the moment, not so much)
- You are interested in thinking how working with schools and kindergarten could look like on the long term
- You like documentary films and reportage (those represent 99% of the films we get for this category)
- You like organising podium discussions or finding initiatives that could lead interesting discussions of screenings of that category
- You like documentary films and reportage (those represent 99% of the films we get for this category)
- You like organising podium discussions or finding initiatives that could lead interesting discussions of screenings of that category
- You like organising a workshop on the special topic of the year
- You could imagine finding a jury and giving them all the relevant information for them to be able to do their job as a jury
you are interested by one or several of these areas of communications work :
- Taking care of the website
- Taking care of design
- Social medias do not scare you (we mostly have Instagram and LinkedIn)
- You find newsletters fun
- You could imagine doing some press work
- Writing texts does not scare you (we need people who can write either in English or in German (or both))
- You’re a great proof reader for our flyers, posters, and other texts
- You like to think about how to reach different groups through relevant channels and develop a specific or general comms strategy
- you know or are not scared of learning the difference between subsidies, sponsoring, donations, etc
- You like strategic thinking
- You’re not afraid of having to try several times getting something financed
- You can read a budget or are willing to learn
- You can write texts in German (not necessarily native level) or read a proposal written in German and give feedback
Besides those subgroups, we also have some tasks that are quite temporary but need a lot of people. If you are interested by one of those without being in the general group, your help will be very much appreciated. We’ll get in touch with you to let you know when the meetings introducing people to a task are taking place:
- Reviewing film: this involves watching at least 10 films in between beginning of May and Mid-june, as well as as giving a note and your comment on the film. You can take part in the program meetings taking place at the end of the process if you want (meetings where films are selected) but you don’t have to, if you don’t want to.
- Distributing flyers and posters in October
- Being a volunteer during the week of the festival (11th to 15th of November 2026): the festival could not take place without the help of volunteers on that week, willing to help with entrance tickets, welcoming guests, logistics, etc).

Become a sponsor
As a non-profit association, we depend on sponsors to make our yearly festival possible. With our focus of sustainability, we want to give our audience valuable input on what a more sustainable and socially just world can look like. Through discussions with filmmakers and experts after our screenings, the films can then be connected to local initiatives and projects in the area.
As a sponsor, you get benefits that range from visibility at the festival and on our posters to a private screening of one of our movies. You can find this year’s sponsoring agreement here.
Become a partner
Our numerous partners help us to organise the festival according to our vision. As a small film festival, our numerous partners support us with equipment, promotional material and various other services that make the festival possible in the first place. If you like what we do and want to support us, in a way other than purely financially, feel free to contact us.
As a partner you also get benefits like visibility and promotion during the festival as well as on our posters around Freiburg.
A heartfelt thank you to all of our sponsors, partners & all of the volunteers that support us every year – without you, we wouldn’t be able to put this festival together.
