Meanwhile in Namibia

The German government refuses to pay reparations for its occupation of Namibia and the genocide of the indigenous population. Instead, it implements a development aid program, exhibiting the descendants of the victims in a way that draws a bitter parallel to the history of human zoos.

Meanwhile in Namibia takes us to the former german colony, where colonial violence and expropriation have shaped the country’s society to this day. This brutally honest depiction of parts of a very unequal society does not shy away from exposing racist language and practices that some white residents still seem to consider to be “normal”.
