Fire, Water, Earth, Air + Schulweg (Short Film)

“Fire, Water, Earth, Air” takes us to four Nordic communities in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and the Faroe Islands, where climate change has increased the power of the classical elements. We follow fire specialists, flood responders, activists and engaging politicians that have dedicated their jobs and lives to preventing future climate disasters and adapting their communities to a changing world.

The film shows what happens when crisis moves close to home and demonstrates the value of community. For one of most important forms of preparedness is our neighbours: the people living right next door, and the sense of community people share across the Nordic region.

In 2021, the Ahr Valley was hit by a devastating flood, reconstruction is still progressing slowly. Schulweg tells the stories of people who are living with the loss of their past, exploring what it means when memories and a part of one’s personal history are lost forever.
