Back to Fukushima

Director: Thomas Licata

Duration: 79 min

Language: Japanese

Subtitles: English

For several years now, the Japanese government has been building complexes called ‘renewal housing estates’ in the heart of Fukushima Prefecture. More than a decade after the accident, this type of concrete neighbourhood is appearing in the still highly contaminated region, surrounded by wild and radioactive nature. “Back to Fukushima” provides an intimate portrait of the inhabitants of these places and offers poetic reflections on areas contaminated by catastrophies linked to humanity.

The film will be followed by a discussion with a representative of EWS-Schönau.
