Who’s behind greenmotions?

Our history

The greenmotions film festival, formerly greenstorming, was launched in 2014 by an international group of students enrolled in the Master’s programme Renewable Energy Management at the university of Freiburg. Soon afterwards, volunteers from other fields joined the team, continued the work and eventually founded the non-profit association Greenmotions.

We have now been a festival and association for over 10 years. Every year we show films that highlight aspects of sustainability, environmentalism and social justice. With various appearances and film screenings throughout the year, we are also committed to presenting diverse perspectives on topics such as climate action to a wide audience.

Our vision

Coming from the fields of sustainability, film (production) or other areas of life, the members of the organising team share a passion for (documentary) films that inspire people to take action and contribute to a vision of a sustainable future. The festival and our other film screenings give us the opportunity to create spaces for dialogue and connect people from different initiatives.

Our goal? To inspire people to rethink their behaviour towards themselves and their environment by showing eye-opening and solution-oriented films. We want to encourage our audience to embrace transformation through discussion and exchange, and to present them with opportunities for active participation in local initiatives.
