Our history<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Greenmotions film festival, formerly Greenstorming, was launched in 2014 by an international group of students enrolled in the Master\u2019s programme Renewable Energy Management at the university of Freiburg. Soon afterwards, volunteers from other fields joined the team, continued the work and eventually founded the non-profit association Greenmotions. Since 2018 Greenmotions benefits from the official support of the city of Freiburg, which helps us to finance a few minijobs for crucial tasks. Most of the work however, is done by our wonderful group on a voluntary basis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Our vision<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We envision a world where sustainability isn\u2019t a niche cause but a shared societal mindset. Protecting the planet remains our core, but we think bigger: we see nature, the environment, people, politics and the economy as an inseparable web. True care for the earth therefore means championing social justice and recognising how these strands influence one another. By nurturing open, respectful dialogue, we want to co\u2011create a fair, resilient future for everyone.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Our missions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We use film as a catalyst<\/strong> \u2013 We believe that film and culture are powerful drivers of dialogue. By curating and screening eco\u2011focused films that ignite conversation and enriching them with panels, workshops and Q&A sessions, we aim to deepen our understanding of environmental issues, sustainability and just transitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We activate change makers<\/strong> \u2013 With our screenings, we encourage the sharing of concrete ideas and resources by experts but also our audience. We show pathways to action and enable participants to make a real impact locally and globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We amplify the regional community and civic network<\/strong> \u2013 Our festival also functions as a networking platform for NGOs, cultural groups, filmmakers and citizens in Freiburg and beyond. With year\u2011round screenings in partnership with various local partners we also extend our reach beyond the festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together, we aim to transform audiovisual storytelling into a tool for education and community building encouraging collective action toward a fair, resilient future.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
